RWH designed the 17.5m deep shoring system for the new Vogue building in downtown Calgary. Existing buildings on the East and West elevations, 21 and 12 storey’s respectively, are located on the property line. RWH designed a 150mm thick shotcrete shoring system with tiebacks to allow for excavation to extend 12.6m below the existing building footing to provide the owner with enough room to install a conventional formed wall. In comparison to a conventional caisson wall design, this design solution saved space, allowing the owner to maximize usable below grade parking area.
